a new dream

Postby Poktarl » Sun Aug 14, 2005 11:08 am

Actually, I'm working on my Dreadnought, but I have to do a little break, while a friend is downloading this VOY series for me, for have a look on the Dreadnought's weapon systems, there are no pictures in the web    . So I''ve started with a ship, that looks very interesting, I think. The Vulcan Surak Class. :) So here is my first attempt.

The only thing, I have problems with, is the part between the 'warpring' and the hull. I don't know how do I have to do this  . So if anybody wanna try it, please do it. There are a lot of pics on my pc about that ship, so I could sent it to you.

make the parts on a different layer in LW, and use the "boolean" tool. Should be the easiest way to do it.

I'd make the cross-section of the pylon, extrude it downward, then use one of the 'Taper' tools (under 'Modify') to make it into it's cone shape.

You can also use half of a sphere, and move some of the points around until you have that boxy- cone shape. Then select some of the sections you want straightened and use the 'Merge' tool (under 'Polygon', or hit zhift+z), then delete the extraneous points...

@ HDS,
boah  , absolutley awesome :) . These ships are really great, especially the Surak Class. I think it's unlogical to do one more, when you've already done a good job. ;) . So the the project is canceled.
