Release: KA Space Environment Mod 1.0 *beta*

Postby Poktarl » Wed Mar 23, 2011 1:00 am

After finishing the last planets, I think this package is ready to be released.

Download Part 1
Download Part 2

size: 25,7 MB

This mod is the first of two or three packages I will release to improve to look of the space environment in Klingon Academy. Version 1.0 contains 10 new star systems, which are the following:

Breen System
Gornar System
NGC 2392 - Eskimo Nebula
NGC 3132 - The Southern Ring Nebula
NGC 6543 - Cat's Eye Nebula
NGC 7293 - Helix Nebula
Qo'noS System
Regula Sytem (Mutara Sektor)
ShaKuria System
Tholia System

All of the new systems are now equipped with custom planet models and textures, Gas Giants, Planetary Rings, Asteroid Belts and backgrounds are goals for the next two packages as well as may reported bugs, errors etc. I hope you will like this one :D

Finally some screenshots of the new environment... more

A big step towards modernising KA :-)

If you don't mind, it would be good to include these in NGA.

Nice, can't wait to try them when I get back :)
I'm telling you Teal'C if we don't find a way out of this soon I'm gonna loose it. Loose it, it means go crazy, nuts, insane, bonzo, no longer in possession of ones faculties, 3 fries short of a happy meal, WHACKO!

Having a problem with Regula. Not quite sure why, but this happens both in Quick Battle when selecting the system to start and when using the WoK mission by Bobby. Perhaps it's related to the presence of the WoK mission, though that mission doesn't install any systems? I'm rusty with how KA references and indexes systems.

Yeah, that's happening to me too. I've got a Radeon HD3200 and 2gigs of memory shared between it and the system (disgusting, I know, but it's surprisingly capable).

Do you have the following eight textures in your KA textures folder: regula11.bmp ... 12,13,14,15,16,17 ... regula18.bmp ? If yes than I have to re-check the .lwo of the planet.

Yes, I have all of those files with exactly those filenames in my textures folder.

ok, and Regula is definitely the only planet with that problem? I checked the regula1.lwo, it's the same I've used for the screenshot, no changes since that. It's somehow difficult to reproduce this issue, while the same .lwo works fine for me.

Regula is the only planet in your pack which does this.

There is, however, one other bug I didn't notice until I went through all of your new systems to look for any other buggy planets. The system NGC-3132 is non-functional because the game believes it has the same coordinates as an existing system, Tychicus. I have not changed any coordinates and am using merely the complete QBSYS file.

To fix this, you can either change the coordinates of the NGC3132 system to some coordinates where right now is free space or you change the coordinates of Tychicus. Because nobody has exact the same solar systems it's hard to position new systems :D

As for the Regula error, please try this update I hope this works

Like I mentioned, I'm just using the QBSYS file that I assumed was vanilla for the game. It's this:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/sib794

For now, I'll change the coordinates on NGC-3132.

As for Regula, I'll let the screenshot speak for itself.

Now if only I could get Bobby's ST2WoK mission working properly! :p

Thanks for the email reply. I forgot about this post entirely. It probably didn't help that it got buried with all my posts too. ;)

I've dld both sets of planet mods and plan to use the Gorn homeworld with moons as a replacement for the Planetary Atmosphere planet and moons. Both look very similar to the Gorn homeworld and its moons. So, I'll be thrilled to get rid of the octagon planet and moons. ;)
