Next Generation Academy

  • Install a fresh copy of Klingon Academy (name it something like Klingon Academy NGA).
  • Download the NGA Installer (387 MB).
  • Run the installer.
  • Point the installer to the new, fresh copy of Klingon Academy (C:\Program Files (x86)\Klingon Academy NGA).
  • Install Komat's KA patches for modern PC's (154 KB).
  • Profit
I have the KA DVD construction kit on my drive as well if you need it (322 MB). To use the DVD kit you need the Klingon Academy CD's for all the movies on them. Instructions for making the DVDs are also at the above link.

Enjoy.

I posted about it a long time ago (few years), use Search bra.

EDIT: I should mention that my version has a multiplayer script inserted that has all of the ships. It's the only change I remember making.

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

EDIT - You should make sure our 2 versions otherwise match up.

The MP script lets you configure the order, race and point value of the ships with simple .txt files. If you feel they need changed in any way, let me know. If you think it's good, you might want to include the script in your version. I think it's just the folder under Scripts and the netscen.lst file in the root.

It's possible I removed some ships from the lists that were either broken or didn't exist in the ships folder as well.

All done. Both copies match up. The only difference is mine has an auto installer. Other than that, they're the same :)

I was able to shave off 31 MB from the file size using the installer.

It's possible that the MP ship lists could use tweaking. For example, I think the Batleth might be the strongest Klingon ship yet I put it below the 3 Neghvars.

I also accidentally put the Breen CL under the Other category and not with the other Dominion ships which I think is under Tholian

All good. So long as everything works, better than most people are gonna get elsewhere, considering almost all other links are dead lol.

Well, the cool thing is, In pretty sure its only read from the host. So I can change things and it won't matter on your end.

I made the obvious OP ships worth 20000, but there could be others that are over powered as well.

Note that I didn't make the script, Gordon made it a long time ago. But the ship lists are in txt files that are easily editted.

Oh, and the script lets you warp to other systems. The starting system is in the config as well.

Well, I made my copy straight from yours. So whatever you did to yours is in mine.

I figured as much, I was just letting you know.

Something time consuming that needs done, is macros for all the ships. I did some myself, but its a real boring and tedous process. I would only do it if people were actually playing it.

Do people still play this? Damn.

Might have continued making things for it if Max hadn't had so many issues with his PC and KA.

He always said he'd had trouble getting KA to work on his kaptop.

I think he's back in education.

I wonder if he ever tried Komat's fixes. It's probably been long enough ago that he stopping trying way before Komat made the patches.

On a complete side note, were you guys planning on adding the Intrepid class to NGA at the time you were working on it?

I still play it. It's my favorite game of them all. I've been trying star trek timelines. But this is still my favorite.

NGA deserves a good QB2 campaign or something. I could script it, but I'm not good at Story writing.

EDIT - looks like I'd have to make a QB2sys.txt file before I could write anything. That's cataloging 362 systems : /
